I started this comic on Thursday, September 10, 2000, when I designed the monkey. I started the comic that weekend, and worked on it pretty hardcore throughout that month. I was doing all of the art in CorelDraw, and found it rather tedious, so I stopped working on it right when the little hatchling is about to jump.
I picked it up again in 2002 while in Japan, because so many people I was meeting were checking out my website, and the consensus was that everyone loved the monkey comic, and the monkey was really cute. Knowing the whole story, I had to prove to the monkey lovers just how not cute he really is, so I finished the bird's murder scene, right up to the tiger eyes. And there I let it sit for another four years.
In july of 2006, I finalized the tiger design, and added a few tiger panels, before finishing it all off in 24 hours on April 28/29, 2007. It's kind of stunning that the story took 7 years to finish, but it's even more stunning that I stayed committed to the original story without changing it at all. I'm surprised I didn't try to rewrite it at least two or three times...
